What's Up, Doc?
Choosing a pediatrician
About a month ago, we ended up interviewing a pediatrician for our daughter. Well before meeting our 1st pediatrician, we agreed to go ahead and interview other pediatricians for comparison. Well after meeting this pediatrician, we were just blown away on how great she is we decided that this Doc was perfect for our daughter! Her name is Dr. Julia Mayer and her office is at St. Luke's Hospital. She was recomended by one of my co-workers and we just knew she would be so great for our daughter after one visit. Very friendly, has 3 girls of her own, and is very passionate in her work. ... more

Waaaaaay Behind
Time to catch up
So, I am weeks behind in putting any updates out here. We have hardly been home, weekday or weekend. 3 weeks ago we met up with some friends down in Nashville, TN. It was a fun weekend, a little bit of rain, but lots of laughter and good times. 2 weeks ago we were in Jeff CIty and Columbia, MO. CJ ran a 1/2 marathon in Columbia and we stayed in Jeff City with some friends. Again, rain. What's up with that? But, we still had a lot of fun, good food and good times. Unfortunately, I think CJ may have a stress frature in his right foot, ouch. Here's to rest and recovery. We start ... more

The Flu
Important health decisions
We had another doctor appointment this week. I was greatly urged to get a flu shot this year, both the seasonal and H1N1 vaccines. I really didn't want to get a flu shot, I have never gotten one before and I haven't had the flu in years, actually, I can't remember the last time I had the flu. Anyway, when they told me about the risk of fetal death associated with high temperature, I decided to go ahead and get the seasonal shot. At least the way they make that vaccine has been going on for years and years. I'm worried about this H1N1 vaccine. I had heard stories about vaccines given ... more

So Close...
..and yet so far
Well, we are getting so close. Our baby could technically survive outside of the womb at this point, with LOTS of help, but of course we don't really want that now do we? The fact that "full term" is just about 2 months away is amazing and scary to me. We are not ready, however, we did just buy some paint for the room. It is not pink or purple, it is in the family of my favorite color, a very light blue. If she turns out to be a he, then we don't have to worry. And, with blue, we can just put some white fluffy stuff on the walls and call it mostly sunny with a few clouds! I have 2 s ... more

What's in a Name?
Any other name would smell as sweet.
Well, lots of you are wanting to know what we have decided to name our little girl. CJ and I have picked out a name. We actually have both a girl's name and a boy's name, just in case, picked out already. However, we have decided that for the time being, that is going to be our little secret. They are both from the Bible though, so if you feel like trying to figure it out, you can start reading and take some guesses. It can be like Rumpilstilskin (I know I didn't spell that right, but that is just too bad!), however, the first born is mine!!! more

Love That Oxygen
Our trip to Colorado
We spent the last week in Breckenridge, CO. Wow, it is so beautiful out there!! Love God's creation!!! Well, the high altitude/lower oxygen combination that is generally hard on those of us from lower elevations was somewhat compounded by the fact that I am 6 months pregnant and get winded climbing 3 flights of stairs at work. We took it easy the first few days, but even so, I was a bit winded at times, and hiking was slow, but overall it was a great time to experience God's creation and spend time with my husband and some good friends. Fortunately, I really didn't suffer any altitude ... more

Time Flies
...when you're preparing for a baby!
Wow, it has been forever since either of us has posted anything. Sorry everyone. So, I am over 5 1/2 months, soon to be 6 months along. The time has flown by. That is one scary part. We finally have the extra bed out of the guest bedroom/soon to be nursery. We have a crib now, thanks, Mom. Just need to put it together!! This morning Baby Reed was as active as she has ever been. All the way to church, during service and sunday school, she was jumping and kicking and doing sommersaults. I was sitting with my mom and a friend during sunday school and had my shirt pulled taunt ov ... more

It's a Girl!!!
We finally find out the sex of the baby!
That's right...Mary and I are having a daughter! We got the news today at our 19 week ultrasound visit. Be sure to checkout the ultrasound and 4D pictures in our pictures section. We had dinner at Red Robin with my Dad, sister, brother (Jason), Mary's Mom, and brother (Chris) and announced our exciting news along with my Mom, Mary's Step Dad, and brother (Michael) over different cell phones all together. We've been sharing the news afterwards with friends and family over text messages, e-mails, Skype, phone calls, and now on our Website! It's been an exciting day for us! Be sure to ... more

The Heat!!!
Summer is proving harder than usual.
So, as much as I like summer, going to the pool, vacations, etc, the heat and humidity has never been something that I really looked forward to. We had several days here in St Louis of upper 90's with humidity, then I went to Dallas, TX with 100+ degree weather. I don't remember the heat being quite so tough to deal with ever before!!! Just add that to the list I guess. I am glad that it was only in the 80's coming back to St Louis today. I needed a break. more

New Excitement
Another trip to the doctor.
Hello everyone. Well, this is a little late in coming as it has been a week since we were at the doctor, but slowly, we are catching up. So, last week, on the 9th, we went for our appointment and knew they were going to listen for the heartbeat. We were anxious and excited! Anxious to hear it because it had been about 2 months since we had seen or heard anything. As first time parents, we did a bit of worrying during these 2 months. The baby wasn't big enough to feel, I was looking pregnant yet, but I wasn't having any negative symptoms either. So, we kept reminding ourselves that Go ... more
