3 weeks in
Wow, Naomi is almost 3 weeks old. Time has flown for me. I guess when you consider that my "day" starts about noon and ends about midnight with random stops and starts throughout, and with about 4-5 inturuptions during my "night", turning my whole world upside down, it isn't too surprising that time has gotten away. She is doing GREAT though. We love her so much! She is a very content baby, not crying much, unless mom and dad are just too slow with the food. She has some wakeful periods during the day where she just looks around and takes things in for a while. She is very particular ... more
The time has flown by
Wow, it has been nearly 2 weeks since Naomi was born. I'm not really sure where the time has gone. Naomi is doing great; eating well, sleeping well, pooping well. She lost the average 10% of her birthweight before leaving the hospital; she was down to 6 lbs, 14 oz. We visited the pediatrician on Thursday, just 2 days after leaving the hospital and she had put 5 oz back on. The doctor said they usually give them up to 2 weeks to get back to their birthweight. She may be in those 3 month outfits by Christmas!! Sometimes I call her my little piglet, in a loving way of course. As wi ... more
The moment we've all been waiting for!
Our little girl has finally arrived! Mary and I are happy to announce the birth of our daughter, Naomi Elizabeth Reed. She was born yesterday November 29th (Yes on her due date!) at 10:30 PM. She weighed in at 7 pounds 5 ounces and she is 20 1/2 inches in length. Mom and baby are doing well. We're so excited. We'll put out some more posts soon so be sure to check back again soon. Stay tuned for pictures as well and thank you so much everyone for keeping us in your prayers and checking in on us! more
...or Baby Time?
Well, baby Reed is still in residence in the womb. No further dilation, still at 3 cm. I have effaced to about 40%. I never asked before yesterday about effacement, so I'm not sure what the progression has been on that. I did "shrink" by a cm on the belly measurement, which means that she has dropped lower in my pelvis. That is a good thing. There were no further predictions by the doctor about when baby Reed might show up. So, the question remains, do we get to eat turkey and pumpkin pie outside the hospital, or will baby Reed decide to make her entrance? I really am going to eat ... more
Any day now...
Well, it is Monday the 23rd. Baby Reed is still in the womb. I decided that Friday would be my last day to work, so I am at home today. I'm trying to be motivated to continue what seems to be the never ending task of cleaning and organizing all of the stuff that we took out of the guest room to make it a nursery. If it doesn't get done before she comes, well, then it will just continue to wait until the day that I can finally see straight I suppose. If she decides to continue to hang out, we will go to the doctor again tomorrow for the week 39 visit. The doctor really doesn't wan ... more
Another doctor visit
Mary and I yesteday went to the doctor for our weekly appointment and got some exciting news. The baby has now dropped and Mary is now 3 centimeters dialated. Just a week ago, the baby hadn't dropped yet and Mary was about 2 centimeters. It appears that the baby is getting very close to coming. We were talking with the doctor about Thanksgiving plans and she said that we may not even make it to Thanksgiving before Mary goes into labor! We'll see what happens. In the mean time, thanks again so much for your thoughts and prayers as we are approaching labor and delivery soon! more
The 35 1/2 week check-up
We went to the doctor yesterday for the 35 1/2 week check up. The baby is still moving around a lot, but the doctor did say that she is head down now. That is good. Now we just have to hope she decides to face the "right" way when it is time for birth. Please pray for that. She hasn't "dropped" yet, so my bladder is still holding up well, but it may not be long for that. Our childbirth class said it could happen anywhere from a month to just days before birth, so the time is coming. I will be able to breathe again when it does happen, I will like that. Just have to deal with the tr ... more
Some Halloween fun
Mary and I have always enjoyed carving pumpkins and baking pumpkin seeds every Halloween. We usually try to be creative with our carvings. This year we found a way to include our daughter in the fun even though she's not quite here yet. Check out our pictures sections to see our fun pumpkins! Happy Halloween everyone. more
A few updates
So, last week I realized that I couldn't see my feet anymore by just glancing down; I actually have to lean over to see them. Now, I am sure that it has probably been some time since I could easily see them, but I just realized it. When I told CJ, he said to just let him know if I needed help with getting my shoes on. Some days I feel like I might need to take him up on it. Doctor visit went well yesterday. I have been doing really well keeping my weight under control in the last 6 weeks after my crazy 10 pound gain the previous month. I blame that on vacation and not wanting to ... more
Choosing a pediatrician
About a month ago, we ended up interviewing a pediatrician for our daughter. Well before meeting our 1st pediatrician, we agreed to go ahead and interview other pediatricians for comparison. Well after meeting this pediatrician, we were just blown away on how great she is we decided that this Doc was perfect for our daughter! Her name is Dr. Julia Mayer and her office is at St. Luke's Hospital. She was recomended by one of my co-workers and we just knew she would be so great for our daughter after one visit. Very friendly, has 3 girls of her own, and is very passionate in her work. ... more
