It's confirmed: Naomi's still growing!
We just arrived home from the doctor, where we enjoyed a well visit with NO shots! Naomi is doing great. She has slowed down just a little bit in height and weight, but still well above average in the 80-85% for both. She is 28 1/2 inches tall and 20lbs 10.5 oz. She still technically fits in the baby carrier!! Her head is getting bigger (from everyone telling her how cute and adorable she is) and closer to average, about 35-45%. We also now have a green light to really start on the table foods. I'm sure she will love it! Oh, and physical development-wise, she is 12-13 mont ... more
Naomi goes traveling
Well, we have had a busy 3 weeks, and I will try to sum things up without taking up your whole afternoon, but make sure to keep reading, because there is some exciting news at the bottom... Our friends Kayla, Ed and Maddie moved to Springfield, MO 3 weekends ago and since we have some other friends who live there and in the general area, we took the opportunity to help them move down there and do some visiting. It was a whirl-wind tour, but a great time. Naomi and I went down on Friday and visited with Amy, Alex and their 2 boys Spencer and Owen for the evening while CJ helped with t ... more
Naomi has another first.
An amazing thing happened last night, but I have to keep you in suspense for just a moment.... Naomi has gotten really good at squatting with her bottom off the ground in the last week to 10 days or so. Sometimes she even bounces like that. Well, last night she just stood on up from the squat!!! She wasn't touching anything as a help, but she did have a toy in hand. She did it about 7 times last night, and has been doing it all day today. She is amazing! She is also getting very good at crawling over things, and also likes to crawl into and out of her exersaucer (the underneat ... more
Naomi's first tooth
It is official, the first tooth has finally broken the surface of the gums! That deserves a late morning and a 2 hour nap (Naomi slept in until about 8:30 and is now taking what appears to be a 2 hour nap). It is the lower left one. I could feel the sharp little edges this morning when I checked. Wow!! more
Crawling and Climbing
Well, Naomi is an accomplished crawler now. She still puts that right leg forward most of the time. But, sometimes I try to hold onto her legs so she has to do a more traditional style. She is very good at climbing up things, and at getting herself down, and is doing a little bit of cruising on the furniture and moving from one piece to another, like the couch to the coffee table. She is carrying things sometimes, crawling and climbing. She is also starting to understand, "Naomi, No, Come away," but sometimes she just gets a big grin on her face and goes right back for whatever it was ... more

She's moving on up in the world!
Naomi has gone from sedentary (ha, right) 6 month old, to a rocking 6 and a half month old, to being on the move. She started rocking on all fours less than 2 weeks ago. Then, she figured out how to sit herself up one day. Now, she is trying to crawl. It is really cute! She goes from a sitting position, down to three with her right leg sticking out. Then, she moves her arms, then the right leg forward, then pulls her left knee up under. Sometimes she gives up there, but if she has the right motivation, she will keep going. And, she is figuring out how to grab the furniture and try to ... more
Another doctor visit for Naomi
Naomi went to the Dr today for her 6 month check-up and shots. She is doing great! No issues from our end or that the Dr found. She is growing well: she is 27 5/8 inchs tall (97%) and 17 lbs 12 oz (85%). We thought that she had already grown out of her infant seat, but she has a few more inches to go. The doctor said she is developmentally about 9 months; amazing. And, the dr could see the first tooth under the surface, wow!! Now, we have to babyproof and lower the bed to keep our baby safe from herself and from her parents. In other things, Naomi went to her first pool the oth ... more
Daddy's little helper
No, Naomi is not running yet, but she is growing. We go to the doctor next week, so look for another post soon, but it has been so long.... Naomi is sitting very well now, and is much better at catching herself if she starts to go a little too far in one direction. No real change in the lack of crawling, but she sure does love to stand up and walk, with help of course. She may just decided to mostly skip over the crawling thing and move on to walking. She is actually pretty good at pulling herself to a standing position and supporting most of her own weight. She is fascinated by ev ... more
...I mean vacations
I can't believe that I forgot to mention in the last post about Naomi's first group of plane rides. At the end of March we jetted off to Jacksonville, NC to visit Uncle Buddy, Aunt Jamie, and cousins Caitlin, Hannah and Madison. Naomi did great on all 4 planes. The visit was great too; lots of family time, great food, t-ball and softball games and a couple movies on the cheap! Mommy, Uncle Buddy and Madison all have birthdays in March so we did some celebrating while there, and Naomi celebrated the 4 month mark. Well, what else has Naomi been up to in the 27 days since my last pos ... more
